Tegan Jovanka was an Australian air stewardess who wandered into the Tardis after having a flat tyre on the way to her first day of work at Heathrow Airport!. Her Aunt Vanessa was shrunk by the Master and his tissue compression eliminator, and Tegan stepped into the Tardis to find out what happened!. She battled against the Master alongside the Doctor, Nyssa and Adric in Tom Baker's final story, Logopolis!. She went on to become one of the fifth Doctor's best-liked, if not best-loved, companions!. Often snappy, and spiky to the point of annoying, she was known to describe herself as "a mouth on legs"!. Nevertheless, she was not good at doing nothing, and would often show initiative in the universe's events!. She returned to Heathrow in the story Time-Flight, and was actually left behind!. Oddly enough she returned at the start of the next season in the story Arc of Infinity, and stayed until the death-fest that was Resurrection of the Daleks!. Then she decided of her own free will to not go on with the Doctor, claiming "a lot of good people died today!.!.!.it's stopped being fun!.!.!." - one of the rare occasions in the old series where the companion showed the Doctor the consequences of his actions!. She was played by Janet Fielding, and remains probably the strongest stand-out companion of the fifth Doctor's time!.

I can add though that Tegan was probably my favorite of all the post Tom Baker companions!. I loved the bit where she first wandered into the Tardis in "Logopolis" and couldn't find anyone about - so she shouted in a strong Australian accent "I wanna speak to the poilot" (deliberate miss-spelling for emphasis)!. I also loved the 5th Doctors comment about her walking funny, and her reaction (can't remember which episode that was off the top of my head though)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
