Why do a lot of people live their lives as if they are the star of their own sit!

Question: Why do a lot of people live their lives as if they are the star of their own sitcom!?
Seems that I find more and more people at work and elsewhere in American society who have an "I'm too cool for you" attitude, which seems to mimic a lot of the sitcoms on TV!.

Instead of actually having a conversation with you, and showing basic civility, they needle you with little quips and one-liners!. They think they are being really cool and trendy, but in reality they are just being rude!. A lot of them even laugh at their own remarks, even though no one else is laughing!. It's like they have their own personal "laugh track"!.

Why are there a lot of people who think that modeling your life on the characters of "Must See TV" is something to be proud of!?

Answers:
Because a lot of people are very insecure!. Some lack attention (maybe they were not loved as much when they were kids)!. They need the attention to validate themselves or to get affirmation and to feel okay about themselves!.

You should see them when they're alone!. These people are very lonely so they revel in other people's attention!.!.

It's sad, really!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

My wife is way more interesting at times than a network sitcom, but there are some "Seinfeld" moments!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

People like being funny!. Even if its rude to others!.
Hang round with different people then!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I never thought of it that way until you just mentioned it but, by Jove, I think you're correct in your observation!. I must admit, even I have done this!. I can't speak for others but In my own case, if I had to dissect my motivation, I'd say it has multiple causes

(1) Its a form of creating a bond with people if you make them laugh at your own expense, however if you are needling them it's more likely a way of establishing yourself in a dominant position to them!. I've done both!.

(2) Its a form of insecurity, i!.e!. that unless you entertain people in your discussions, they won't actually listen to you!. When I don't care about if people listening to me, I dont put on an act at all!.

(3) It's a learned activity, my father did it to me for years, using me as his unwitting straight man!.!. he still does it actually!.

I must admit, your description is right on the money!.!. and it made me think!.!. I must try NOT to do this so much in the future, it's rude and stupid!. Thanks for mentioning it!.
