Animated tv show from 90's a lot like Pokemon?!

I can not seem to remember what the name of the show was called but it was about this cave boy that gets unthawed in present time!. His father was turned into a stone hammer he carries!. He travels through time to collect all these weird monsters!. It was very much like Pokemon right down to there being a "Team Rocket" enemy group complete with a girl with long hair and a monster accompanying them!. Can't remember any characters names but I do remember one episode where he and the two modern kids who found him travel back in time and meet the Wright Brothers as kids and have to capture a baseball like monster!.
