Question: Why do phone numbers on television shows always start with 555!?
I've been paying attention more and more, and every show that I watch, when they are stating a number, it starts with 555!.
Is it a rule or something!? So they aren't using someones real number!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

in the US, no one's phone number has that prefix!. Not sure why!. But, yes, on TV it's to keep from using an actual number!. Some books and comics do it, too!. SOP, as my dad would say (standard operating procedure)Www@Enter-QA@Com
Yes because there is no real number that starts with 555!. There was even an incident before in a movie where a number was shown and dialed and it turned out to be a real number and people were calling it!Www@Enter-QA@Com
