Where did BB originate from? Was it America?!

Question: Where did BB originate from!? Was it America!?
Answers:
The first Big Brother broadcast was in the Netherlands in 1999 on the Veronica TV channel!.

The show's name comes from George Orwell's 1949 novel, Nineteen Eighty-Four, in which Big Brother is the all-seeing, all-controlling leader of the dystopian Oceania!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The term came from George Orwell's book called "1984" (written in 1949)!.

The idea for the TV show was created in 1997 at the production house of John de Mol Produkties!.

The first country to air the show was the Netherlands (also known as Holland) in 1999!.

In 2000, the following countries aired BB:
Belgium
Germany
Italy
Netherlands (Holland)
Portugal
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
UK
USA

In 2001, for the second season the USA changed their format, so they now have a different format than most of the other BB shows, which have stuck with the original format!. Some countries later changed their format to follow the USA format!. (Read about the format at the Wiki link below!.)

The Netherlands (Holland) had 6 seasons in
1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006

The UK has had a number of variations on the BB theme including:
(regular) Big Brother, currently on it's 9th season from 2000-2008

Celebrity Big Brother: 6 seasons:
2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009

Teen Big Brother: 1 season, 2003

Panto Big Brother: 1 season, 2004

Big Brother, Celebrity Hijack: 1 season, 2008

The USA has had 10 seasons of BB (currently showing the 10th),
from 1999 - 2008!.

Season 7, 2006 was called Big Brother All Stars and brought back previous cast members!.

BBUSA had 2 seasons in 2008 (both season 9 and season 10), which is why BBUSA is technically one season ahead of BBUK, even though they both started the same year!.

Hope that answers your question!. :-)
