- A random evil person coming and kidnapping someone!.
- Someone getting a disease, or having a heart attack, and their life is hanging in the balance!. I guess they do that coz they think people will care if they are gonna die or not, when half the time we don't really care!.
-Someone getting pregnant- and not knowing who the father is!.
its sooo commonly used!.
- Random killing off of people!. I like this one the best-coz its funny!.
- Oh and the whole "love triangle" thing!. or someone telling a someone they love them- when they are already married or just divorced!. or something complicated like that!.!.!.

A common device to scuttle a storyline that is going nowhere is to create a disaster where some of the characters get killed off!. It could be a natural disaster such as a storm or a flood or a terrorist attack like what happened with the 1980s prime time soap "Dynasty"!. To get rid of an unpopular storyline, the writers had a group of terrorists crash a wedding and shoot it up!. Some of the actors ended up having their characters killed off when they decided they wanted more money!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
On AMC generally someone gets murdered and there are like 9 suspects or Erica does something and ends up in jail!.!.!.I think she has been in jail more times than FBI most wanted!.
On OLTL they always have them get sent back in times, get a split personality or go into another world!.!.!.like Atlantis!. Oh, and they do some silly musical!. also the standard murder with many suspects!.
On GH they generally seem to burn down a hotel, have a bombing, or a mob war!. Or the give Carly a nervous breakdown!.

Well, let see, on ATWT, John Black get's shot and turns into the zombie he is today!. On Y & R shots are fired one after the other and everyone winds up being hospitalized!. Well, after they kill off someone, and notice ratings are going down because people really liked that character, they bring the character back somehow, like either their ghost, or "they really didn't die" scenario!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I know that in Port Charles before they canceled it they had a vampire out break!. In GH they have a mob war, or a shooting of an innocent victim!. For the other soaps it is normally a child out of wed lock!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
