Back in the 60's the men thought they were in charge, but the women still ruled!. Samantha still used her powers, behind his back and ran things her way!.

When BEWITCHED first came on TV most women did not work and stayed home and took care of the house and children!. It was the way American society was back then!. It was a more sexist society in those days, you are right!. The idea most people had was that a woman's place was in the home!. Early in the series it was established that Darren wanted to have an average American home life and the fact that she was a witch, immortal, and often used her powers behind his back is pretty much the joke or premise of the show!.

they were supposed to be blending into "normal" society back when women's jobs were to cater to their husbands!. Why would that be sexist!? Everything that happened back then when the shows were taped weren't critiqued by feminists and hippies!. It was just a show!. Why turn him into a frog!? She loved him!.
