Why doesn't the U.S. make more dry comedies?!

I was just reading this article about!.!.!. well!.!.!. if you know the questions I ask, you would have a good idea about what I was reading!. FOTC, ok!. Don't know what that's an acronym for!? Look it up!. But anyway, I was reading and it was obviously written by someone in New Zealand with a passion that I wish I could write with, seeing as the words they use are a mixture of floridity and sheer admiration for the two!. Geez, I keep on going off track!. OK, while I was reading they said something about a show that I never heard before called Welcome to Paradise, which sounded like it bombed because they said people would change the channel or turn the t!.v!. off just so they wouldn't see it!. Then they would turn back to it when Flight of the Conchords came on!. It got me thinking, why don't we have comedic shows like this one!? I have to go to different countries to get my fix of comedy!? I know Flight of the Conchords is not based in New Zealand, but the humor is still there!. I think there are much better shows in other countries than the reality shows on every channel here that take up the 9:00-11:00 time slots throughout the stations!. I do like My Name is Earl, The Office, 30 Rock, pretty much the NBC comedy line up!. The Office is a dry comedy, but then again, it's not really an "American" show, they got it from Ricky Gervais, an English comic!. So i'm just saying, where are the truely funny dry comedies on mainstream American television!? Any opinions welcome!.
