In the 1960s Agnes Nixon, then head writer for The Guiding Light, tried to sell a property called All My Children to NBC, then CBS, then NBC again through the auspices of sponsor Procter & Gamble!. Despite her success and sponsor support, it was not until the start of 1970 that her brainchild finally aired!.
Nixon strived to create a soap that was topical, and could illustrate social issues to the audience!. She wanted all this while also injecting regular humor into the script!. To keep the action more real, she allowed the audience to locate her fictional "Pine Valley" on a map: situated just outside of Philadelphia, it was a mere hour-long train ride from New York City!.
From 1970 and into the 1980s, the show was either written by Nixon herself or by her protégé, Wisner Washam!. He was groomed by Nixon to take the reins in the 1980s while she focused on other endeavors, like creating and launching Loving in 1983!. There was Erica, Phillip, Tara, chuck which was Phoebe grandson, myrtle, Brooke, Langley which was phoebe's last husband, tom,( which he was married to Erica at one time or another!. Pat( she is Angie's mother), Tad, Joe, Ruth, Kate( she is Joe's mom)!. That is all i remember from back then!. I also - just remember kitty, billy Clyde tuggle which he was Emily Anne's natural father!. There was also Estelle ( she was suppose to b Emily Anne's natural mother!. Then - there - was Bennie!. There was also Erica's half brother mark too!. She has always had a close relationship with him!. And - then there was Ellen( she was also married to mark and she was also married to ross!. Ross was Adam's nephew because of his sister Loddie!. However, He was the product of her affair with Palmer!. Then - there was Nina, cliff, Sean!. He was tom's brother!. Wow! I can't remember that i remember all these characters from all my children!. There was also Myra which she was Nina's grand mother!.
