Why Is TV Going In HD?!

Question: Why Is TV Going In HD!?
I mean, some things already is in HD, and it look EXACTLY the same! I mean, I think this is just a scam! To say everything is going in HD, then everyone (HAS TO) buys a box thing, the cable people earn millions of dollars and the people who said TV is going in HD, will rob the cable people!. I think this is a scam, do you!? But why does TV HAVE to go in HD!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I agree with you!.!.!. partly!.!.!. as with most things it seems, that by "improving" our quality of life or technology usage anyways, we get stuck into buying things that we don't really need and then we have to upgrade them, etc!. cause we don't know any better!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You're confusing HD and digital, which can be HD or SD (or even lower!.) Note: "SD" means 480i, same as analog TV!.

See, digital is only as good as its source!. If the starting picture was SD, then upconverting to HD only makes it larger, not better!. It will look "exactly the same" as you rightly complain!.

But when you have a valid comparison the difference is stunning!. Go to a video store and compare DVD to Blu-Ray on a 1080p panel and you will see!.

Now, why the switchover!? It's the culmination of a long process of converting to digital which has been enabled by advances in electronics!. Telephone did it first in the late 1960s/early 70s, audio did in the early 80s, and satellite / cable followed in the early 90s!.

So why bother when plain old TV is good enough!? With digital you can send information from point A to point B without degradation, something you can't do with analog!. Gone are the "snow" and "fuzz" of analog, so you get a better picture to start with!.

Add compression and you can send even more stuff down the same channel!. That's how it's possible to send an HD+SD program in the same 6MHz channel that used to carry only SD!.

Both the quality improvement and efficiency make digital very compelling!.

In the big picture, going digital means more delivery choices are possible too - IPTV and internet download are making inroads already, giving the cable and sat providers a run for their money!. TV broadcast is being transformed as a result, becoming a more competitive and less centralized industry!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Everything is NOT going HD, because you have to pay extra for that service, and have a compatible HDTV with the appropriate inputs!.

Analog TV signals are being phased out and sold off by the FCC to emergency services!.

If you grab over the air signals via a bunny antenna or tin foil, then you might want to update your TV in general, because there will be no over the air "analog" signals!.

You poor misled soul!. ;)

I love HD media on my 42" Aquos 1080p LCD TV, but I know something about it all!. LOL!Www@Enter-QA@Com
