He's probably going to get revenge on Nikki for threatening to divorce him right after the Gala!.
My guess would be "Dreamer" liquid is something that puts you to sleep and makes you unaware of what's happening around you!.
David is sick enough to pull that, or maybe Walter puts David up to killing Nikki since he probably thinks she knows too much and if David & Nikki end up divorced, David won't be able to get Nikki's money!.
David is probably going to drug Nikki the day of the Gala so he can take off with her and take her somewhere alone so he can kill her!.
I wonder if Walter follows after them (unbeknown to David) then at some point purposely crashes into their car just to make sure Nikki is killed!?
