Answers:
It just depends, sometimes they are done wel and sometimes they just stink!. There are always funerals at Christmas just for further depression!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Funerals are usually a turning point in the a characters life!. If the viewers are happy during a funeral, it's pretty obvious that you wanted that to happen,
but if you were sad!. You're obviously not the kind of person that wanted that to happen!.
It shows if you are with the protagonist or not of the soap!.
Why they usually come up around Christmas is something that I really don't know!.!.
maybe that way, the writers will be able to set a great emotional effect on the viewers, during the season of giving!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't care for the ones when they kill one off one of your favorite characters!. I don't even like he real ones either!. They are to sad to bare!. So - when ever i have to go to a real one!. I just don't like to go!. I like to remember that person the way he or she use to be!. But - no! I don't care much for funerals in general!. Even if there on TV more in real life!. It means we are losing a loved one or a character we love too!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The actual idea of the funeral doesn't bother me, it isn't real!. What does bother me is that people close to the person that died (mother, brother etc) are never there if they have left the soap!. I realise that some probably have other acting jobs but can't they EVER just bring SOME back for a few hours shooting!. Most of the time they aren't even mentioned!. I find myself just thinking about that and not the storyWww@Enter-QA@Com

It's TV, have you noticed how few people attend these SOAP funerals,
Birth and death sparks emotions that the SOAP writers want, to bring back the viewer, but I"ve never been to a funeral where the dead person wasn't really dead and watching from behind the curtain!.!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i think why bother, they will just resurrect the person in a few months! i don't know how i feel about them, they always make me cry so i guess i'd like to say i DON"T like them but since it is a soap and is technically suppose to be realistic i see why they do them!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I only cry when the actors and actress really pass away and they do like a memoral to that person!. I did shed a tear when Alan Quartemaine died!.!.!.but he came back as a ghost!.!.!.which brings me to this point!.!.!.

I don't really put too much into soap funerals, because the characters usually come back from the dead in a couple years!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Knowing that it's not a real funeral and that no one actually died, it doesn't bother me!. Although I may be sad if it's character I really liked!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I watch Days and on that show funerals mean nothing!. The person always turns up alive eventually!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't know anyone who likes funerals, but it would be odd if they didn't have one - at least once in a while!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well if it's a character l liked, l like the closure of it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

yeah i try to turn away when they are showing a funeral!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

it depends on a few issues to me:

1) did i care about the character when they were alive!?
2) does the characters death provide good material for the other actors!?
3) what will this character's death mean to the history of the show!?
4) is it well written or shoddy!?

i like soap funerals that serve a purpose, give fans closuer and move the rest of the plot along!.

Nash's death/funeral on OLTL is a great example of a soap death that has done great things for the show!. Georgie's death on GH did nothing, served no purpose!.

i hate soap funerals when they bring the character back alive in a week or have them show up as a ghost a day later!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Actually they (CBS, my ONLY soap source) get me so lugubrious when they occur as if I was there!. When Cassie (Y&R) died in '05, Taylor (B&B) died in '03, I almost forgot that it was only a T!.V!. show!. I got teary-eyed as their loved ones grieved, Taylor's returned, but Cassie's departure still gets me heartsick!. I can't help watching and reminiscing on the past episodes of her, such a sweet and beautiful little girl!. I also cried along with Damon Porter when told Phyllis about his son Elias Porter who was murdered by a gang member, and also when he (Elias) came back to reassure Damon that he didn't blame him for that guy killing him!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It depends, I guess, on whether or not I liked the character!. And also on how and why they died, and who is attending the funeral!. In general, I like soap funerals, b/c they usually show a montage of all the different memorable scenes of the character, over the years, and I think that's pretty cool, to see how the character developed and what their relationships were like!. On General Hospital, a few years back, they had a funeral for the lady who played Lila Quartermaine (who also passed in real life) and I thought the funeral was quite fitting b/c not only was it a tribute to the character, but also to the actress!. It was touching and sad, and in a way, really cool to watch everyone show her the respect she deserved by recognizing her passing!. I def don't like all soap funerals but I do like watching the funeral of someone who was a beloved character, b/c it's like you're showing respect for someone who once was (just like at a real funeral)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I've seen a lot of funerals on TV!. Not just on soaps but on dramas as well!. Death is just a reason for people to get together and express their condolences to the family!. Like you said death is a very part of real life and it is a way to say good bye to a friend!. From the moment you are born you have a date with death as well!. It's something you must accept and TV shows you how to do it!. Some with grace and some with a party depending on where in the world your from!. I only go to a funeral if I know the family of the person who passed away!. But hey, some people go just to see old friends!.
On soaps it seems foolish but they put everyone together in the same room to take up time I guess!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
