Question: How come in Soaps, the characters never watch other soaps, or talk about them, or seem to know aout them!?
In Soaps like Eastenders, the characters never seem to watch other Soaps like Coronation Street or Emmerdale!. They never seem to talk about them, or know about them, even though the soaps are like the most popular programmes on television, and everyone knows about them!. Does anyone know why!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

To soap characters othe soaps don't exist there real place places because some soaps have connections to each other!. Like on General Hospital, there is a woman named Anna Devane and her nephew Aiden Devane is on All My Children!. also on GH there was a Skye Chandler Quartermaine and her family The Chandlers is also on AMC!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Maybe because that is advertising the other soap, and most of them are on different channels, sometimes at the same time!. They want their channels ratings to be the highest!.
also its not very interesting topic for the charecters to be talking about! Aswell they would be behind!. E!.g-A charecter could of died, and they may not know untill that episode, but they will have already have recorded the show, maybe talking about the dead charecter as if he is alive, if you understand me!?!

But the main reason why in Soaps, the characters never watch other soaps, or talk about them, or seem to know aout them is because they dont want to advertise other soaps!. They does that with passions and days of our lives!.!.because they both are NBC sponsers!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

On passions I know they sometimes would mention watching soaps on NBC or Directv or say they needed to watch DOOL!.!.!.but other than that I don't hear them mentioned!.

Why would they promote their "competitors" even in day-to-day conversation!? TV is a stickler to keep viewers eyes peeled to where you are, not recommend another place to view!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
