They were child actors who as a part of the storyline and child labor laws had limited lines and appearances!. On top of that, the storylines centered around the character Laura Ingalls, the author of the actual "Little House" books and her experiences with people in her own life!. When you have someone Carrie's age, there isn't much to tell!. Its practical use of expensive airtime to focus on the main character!.
