Honestly, I think part of it may be the popular misconception that Mormon = country bumpkin, and worse yet, that people can't distinguish between FLDS and normal, sane Mormons, so they think that Mormon equals 'Kellie Pickler' at best, and child bride' at worst!. (Both of which assumptions are quite untrue, but that goes without saying!.)
I may be assuming too much politics play into it, but I do think that is a factor!. A given Mormon candidate may have had more of the middle America vote, but not with all the sensationalism going on at the time re!. Warren Jeffs and the YFZ Ranch (both FLDS)!. The only reason Archbot overcame it was because he had the tween vote!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
