You can't just show up in New York City and find the cash cab!. They recruit at local events like trivia nights in bars!.
Of course, they don't tell people what they're in for!. In order to keep some element of surprise, they tell prospective contestants they're making a film about "places people like to go"!. Then they send a cab to pick people up to take them to their destination, and it turns out to be the Cash Cab!.
I don't think they pick up random people on the street!. They've recruited several times from the weekly trivia night I attend!.
It's also for legal reasons - by getting people to sign forms to appear in the fake film, they've already got their permission to appear on camera - they can't use your footage on TV without a signed release form!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
