Question: In LOST, is Jin really dead!? And I need someone to explain why John Locke was in that coffin, is he dead too!?
Answers:
No Jin is probably not dead, remember we did not actually see him get killed or the body in the water!. Though I do not think we will see him right away!. It would not seem that there was time for him to return to the island so he probably made it to the raft of people of the people who were still not on the ship!. I think they will save him for a happy reunion with Sun on some distant episode!. Michael died not Jin, he was the only one who saw Jack's father and he said it was Michael's time before the bomb blew up!.
Locke was in the coffin because he is dead or will be dead in the near future!. He lost the use of his legs after returning to the real world in an effort to get the 6 to return and bring back the balance to the island or for them to fulfill their purposes!. His legs were probably amputated or lost in accident, that would explain the small short coffin he was in!. Don't worry you will see Locke in plenty of flash backs next season!.
Apparently some people on the island have a purpose and until they fulfill that purpose that can not die, and their lives take a bad turn, remember Michaels attempted suicide!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Jin could have gotten into the water, conceivably!. That leaves it open for him to show back up!.
Locke is dead in the future, so seeing him dead is just a teaser for what happens next season, to get you back and watching!.

I don't think he is!. If you search the question "Is Jin dead!?" on this site you will see LOTS of theories!! Someone said that the studio confirmed he is alive! And that Michael is dead!.
