Question: Does anyone know the ending of The Andromeda Strain!?
The very last scene had a man looking at a computer screen watching someone in a space station putting the Andromeda sample in an enclosure!.!.!.he had a pack of gum in his hand!. Who was this!!!?!!? I just watched all 4 hours of it on A&E and can't remember who had the gum packet!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

The "chewing gum man" was one of the presidents aides!.!.!.the older one with white hair!. He's the man that Jack Nash's (Eric McCormack's character) editor calls and threatens to release information if Jack isn't found, he's also the one calling all the shots to quiet Jack Nash and blackmails Dr!. Charlene Barton!.
There was a scene near the end where Gen!. Mancheck and his team got in their helicopters to spray the bacteria over the infected areas and the president stands near the hanger!. The man seen @ the end of the movie chewing gum (I'm sorry I don't recall his name) asks the President if there is anything he can do; the President tells him to pray!. At this point he nervously starts chewing gum!.
As for the vague ending I think what it meant was that in the future Andromeda was actually sent from that station to earth, whether it was man made or extraterrestrial (project scoop) who knows!. At this point in the future the ocean where the bacteria grew was already mined and there was no cure!. The only option they had was to send it back in time where the bacteria was still prominent and hope they could figure it out and find a cure to avoid a future catastrophe!.!.!.!.!.but that's just my take:)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Watch one of the opening scenes!. It is the same guy who is chewing the gum then!. I think he is the NSA director, Chuck something!. The gum is Nicorette, because he is trying to quit smoking!. At the end, he apparently runs out and shakes a cigarette out of the pack!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
