How many of you even know what "The End of Analog Television" means?!

Question: How many of you even know what "The End of Analog Television" means!?
I mean most people are accustomed to cable and dish TV now days!. When I was a kid we had an antenna, and my dad installed a split pole rotating motor on it!. If we wanted to, tune it we would turn a knob on the control and it would click as the motor turned the antanna one click at a time in the direction of the city broadcasting the channel we wanted to tune in!. We could get maybe 8 channels and thought we were on the leading edge of technology (back then we were)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's crazy how technology changes so fast!. I remember trying to look cool with my "walkman" back in the day!. Now it's all mp3 and what not!. Taking it up a notch, now all those old dinosuar t!.v!.'s will be retrofitted with a dtv tuner box for the sake of freeing up communications for public safety departments!. Sounds like another way to get money by the governement to me!. My only concern with this is the fact that millions of people have portable televisions that use analog and have them for catastrophe purposes like hurricanes, tornados and such!. I'm looking at 5 right now that I own!. I would think that the government would allow at least two local stations to continue running analog during these times!. I don't think they make digital boxes capable of running off batteries yet!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yeah it's pretty amazing aint it!? Not to many folks using the old "Rabbit Ears" any more!. Remember making your little brother stand there holding the antenna for an hour so you could watch Saturdays Creature Feature!. Although I do know a few of the older folks in town who absolutely refuse to step out of the 70's and needless to say, this is a major issue amongst them and I think it's so funny as I overheard a conversation the other day at the store between two of these said people and it sounded like a skit straight out of the Beverly Hillbillys, it's just funny how much things have changed in the last 20 years!. My buddys house used to be the main draw in the neighborhood cause' he had "Pong" !!Www@Enter-QA@Com

We bought a brand new HDTV and hooked our old rabbit ears up to it and got HD over the airwaves!. We found that the old tricks still worked - if the signal was fuzzy, touch the tip of the antenna and it'll come in!. And aluminum foil extenders can help as well!.

It's not quite the days of UHF and VHF and two knobs and those outer knobs that you tuned to get rid of the static, but it's not that much different!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It pisses me off when the batteries go dead in my 1000 channel cable remote, and I have to get up and replace the batteries!.!.!.!.damn, I should just keep an extra set of batteries in my desk/cooler, next to my leather recliner, by my stereo speakers, in front of my 62 inch widescreen, hi-def TV!.!.!.life's a *****!!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

It means that as of February 17, 2009, the anolog signal will be shut off for good, all TVs must be digital ready or you must purchase a converter box to recieve these signals!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
