Question: What's the deal with the American Idol record company!?
I know the winner has to sign with the it, but what about 2nd 3rd and 4th place, can they do WHATEVER they want!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

All Idol contestants are owned by 19 Entertainment (parent of Am Idol), which acts as their agent!. Only the winner is guaranteed a record deal, but 19 E has the right of first refusal to manage them!. If 19 E doesn't want them, they are free to do what they want!. Otherwise, 19 E retains exclusive rights for just about everything associated with them!. They definitely own them all until the tour is over!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
The last answer is pretty close to correct!. Basically, the contract guarantees/requires an album to/for the winner!. It also guarantees/requires the top ten to participate in the tour!.

actually you CAN'T do whatever you want!. I forget what season it was but there was that chick that was the scooter girl ( or something like that ) and she was offered an endorsement from sketcher's but because when she became an American Idol finalist she had to sign some contract that limited what she could and couldn't do!. If you watch the tv guide channel they have What Happened to Idol favorites on ALL THE TIME and it talks about this!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Most have recorded albums anyway, so it's nothing new to them!. David Cook has 3 albums under his belt!. Idol has degenerated into a contest for professionals!. True amateurs don't stand a chance anymore:
