Why can't Canadians apply for reality shows on cbs?!

Question: Why can't Canadians apply for reality shows on cbs!?
I am a huge survivor fan, but i live in Canada!. I am willing to do almost anything, even getting a dual citizenship, but right now im only turning 18 soon, and to be on Survivor, or Amazing Race, or Big Brother (anyshow which i would love to be on) you have to be a US citizen and live in the US!. I dont get it, thats not fair, i mean we Canadians are pretty close to the US and this just seems to me to be some sort of discrimination to an extent!. I have emailed CBS countless number of times on the topic, to which i have had no reply!. I have also heard that even with thousands of people applying for these shows, the producers stll go out and recruit players, which is just pathetic and a disgrace to the fans!. If anybody has any knowledge of why this is so, please go ahead and reply!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm Canadian and would also love to play!.

The person above me almost has it right, but it's plain
and simple!.
Canadians do not pay the same taxes on game/lottery
winnings as U!.S!. Citizens, therefore we are not eligible,
since they (U!.S!.) are taxed higher!.

Should one of us win, and we try to pay taxes as per
dual Citizenship, or even Canadian citizenship - the other
contestants would cry foul!.

I think the best we can hope for is a) International Survivor
Or!.!. b) Canadian Survivor!!! We have better players, and
locations anyway!. :)
That's why dual wouldn't work!.!.btw!. I also am dual, and I
cannot apply!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

They'd have to dub out all the "Eh's" and they don't have that kind of budget!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm Canadian as well and would love to give Survivor a shot!. I, too, emailed CBS with no reply!. However, I do know it has something to do with liabilities regarding contests remaining in certain countries!. For example, lotteries, which reality shows are basically!. I'm 5 minutes from the US border!. If I bought a lottery ticket of ANY kind in the US and won, even if only one dollar, I could not legally claim it!. I would be refused the prize because I am not a US citizen!. The same goes for any US citizen who buys Canadian lottery tickets or who enters Canadian contests!. Ever wonder why Quebec is excluded from so many Canadian contests!? Same reason!. The province of Quebec's government's legislation has certain particular laws re: lotteries and contests, and the legalities prohibit certain payouts!. (If you want to read more on this check out the government of Canada website!.)

By the way, stoodo, that stereotype is way outdated!. Perhaps you should adjust your line of thinking, then maybe you might be able to move out of your parents' basement and actually learn the way the real world works!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
