Why does every single black woman on television feel the need to wear a weave?!

Question: Why does every single black woman on television feel the need to wear a weave!?
I'm watching the reality show College Hill and all four of the young women are wearing weaves!. Ever watch Flavor of Love!? All of the African American women on that show are wearing weaves too!? I think it looks so ridiculous for all of these women who look so different from one another walking around with the same, straight jet black weave that looks as if it came off the head of a person from India!. When will this ridiculous trend end!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

lol!
well, this may not answer your question, but i'm african american and i have naturally long wavy hair!.(and no i'm not biracial)
i was teased endlessly in middle school and high school from my african american classmates because they thought i was trying to be white and i was lying about my hair being real!. for years, i thought the were just mean beeotches!.
i recently ran into a person who gave me the most grief about my hair!. she had a long wavy weave similar to mine!. we started talking and i asked her why she teased me so much about my hair!. she said she teased med because she was jealous!. at the time, black girls with long hair were deemed more attractive because we believe the european standards of beauty!
even though she understood this, she still couldn't "live without her weave"!.
i think it's going to take our famous hollywood sisters to "keep it real" with their hair since society as a whole pays attention to them!.
i don't think it will ever happen, but it's a nice ideal!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I am not black!.!.and I am so happy to see some of you answer this question with a real answer!. Most people answer like RS and its so refreshing to see people give real answers!. Thanks!.!.There is hope for us all!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

omg, who cares!?! and stop bein so racist about countries!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i don't see y that matters!?!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Flav needs to make up his damn mind!. He sends all the beautiful weaveless girls home and complains when one has to wrap her hair in saran wrap to get in a pool!.

I hope it ends soon!. One of my friends finally stopped straightening her hair and it looks so beautiful!. I don't get why a lot of black women think adding all of that crap to their natural beauty is attractive!. But I guess like all girls, they are influenced by the media!. I mean I can name a time when I was going to the tanning salon and dying my hair blond!. Thankfully I got out of that stage!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Who are you to say that black women who wear weave don't like themselves!? That's a broad statement to make!.!.!.that's like saying every white person who listens to hip-hop/rap wants to be black!. Women wear weaves for many reasons and just to let you know: Women of other ethnic backgrounds rock weaves too!. It's another way to express yourself if you want to change up your look without damaging your own hair in the process!.If you have short hair you have the right to add extensions if it makes you happy!. Oprah,Beyonce,Britney Spears,Jessica Simpson,Mary J!.Blige,Alicia Keys,Madonna,Gwen Stefani,Paris Hilton, and Jennifer Lopez all wear weaves sometimes and who cares! To each his own!.Maybe your question should have been why do women wear noticeable weaves instead of turning this into a race issue!.

I hope this was useful,Take Care!!! :)Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think its because black women don't typically have long hair!. and any black women who has natural long hair is chastised or berated they are accused of being mixed as if having parent of a different race was bad!. alot of jealousy goes with that!. one day I was at a concert, I have always had very long hair nearly to my waist!. these girls that sat behind me talked badly about me ( they didn't even know me) but they were betting I had on a weave!.!.!.why!?, well I look black enough but why was my hair so long!? they actually lift up my hair and pulled on it to see!. so I think hair with black women is a matter of pride its like thier crowning glory!. it probably goes back to days of slavery if you had high yellow complexion and long straight black hair you were thought to be beautiful in a man's eyes!. but short nappy hair you are just like everybody else!. when women are advertised in fashion magazines(not so much now as it was in the day!.) you'd only see white girls and if you saw a black girl on the cover she would be light skinned and have long hair!. it's our over perception of beauty!. like it or not!. long hair is a thing of pride for black women because our hair grows slowly and rarely does it grow long!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
