Well Speed does know he has an older brother!. Here is the deal but this is based on the original cartoon!.
Rex Racer crashed the Mach 1 and had a fight with his father as Pops Racer felt that Rex was not ready for big time races!. Rex leaves and never sees his family again vowing to become the greatest racer of all time!. He returns as Racer X but nobody in the Racer family knows its Rex!. The family believes Rex is living alone somewhere!.

From what I gather, I would say that Racer X, who is in reality Rex Racer, is about 10 years older than Speed!. And did you know that they made a movie that is to be released to theaters this month!?Www@Enter-QA@Com
