Question: Does anyone else think the show "Dexter" is the ultimate dimise of television!?
Ok, I have never actually watched an episode of "Dexter" but is it just me, or has TV gone downhill!? I mean, a show where they make a serial killer out to be the good guy!?! What next!? This generation is growing up watching this! What impact will this have on them!?! I personally think they should take "Dexter" off the air!.!.!.!.!.or at least off CBS (or NBC!?)!.

I definitely think that Dexter should not be watched by children or even teenagers!. It has been shown that viewing violence (especially violence that isn't punished) can have a negative impact and lead to violence in real life!. I think it is okay for grown-ups to watch, though, and I find it strangely compelling!.
Oh, and the number of people who are complaining about the "watered down" version of Dexter on CBS as compared to Showtime!.!.!. Jeez! I think the show is gory enough with its hints of violence; I don't know why I would actually need to see all of the blood and gore to get the "full experience" rather than just leaving it up to my imagination!.
I also agree with your basic premise that television is becoming darker and more violent!. I don't understand why Janet Jackson's breast or Charlotte Ross' (from NYPD Blue) butt being shown requires a huge fine, but Criminal Minds can get away with women being torn apart by dogs without any problems!. Sigh!. I know that I'm more European in that I have less of a problem with sex/nudity than violence, but I really think it is going too far!. I so think that the violence could be toned down on these popular criminal shows without it taking away from the impact of the program, but it seems like each show is competing with each other to see who can get away with the most blood and violence!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

its about a guy who has no feelings
and he has urges to kill
so his dad teaches him how to use them for good!.!.!.like he kills the bad guys

I think it's rediculous to single out ONE show as "the ultimate demise of television!." It has been going downhill for years!. You could say Sex in the City, NYPD Blue, CSI, even Friends or Seinfeld were the "ultimate demise of television!." It's just getting worse as time goes on!.

thats very biased of you to critcize dexter without ever watching epsidoe!. its a very compelling and well written drama that is a step aheard!. its alot better then a lot of the garbage on t!.v!. thats on t!.v!.

When I heard about dexter!.!.!.it just creeped me right out!.!.!.Then my sister told me it was like the best show ever made!.!.!.!.!.
Dexter is kind of a wacko!.!.!.he works with the police department as a blood spatter analyst!.!.!.so he is one of the COPS or CSI guys!.
NOW, he has a dark side as well!.!.!.he KILLS the friggin sick ***** who raped and killed children or drunk drove and killed a bunch of people and slipped through the cracks, or got off on technicalities!. Basically, people who deserve to be killed!.
So he is kind of a vigilante who takes the law into his own hands, and makes sure the people get the justice they deserve!. It also satisfies his urge to kill and take other human life!.!.!.he became demented as a child when he witnessed his mother being murdered and chopped up by drug dealers!.
His adoptive father bascially taught him ho to reign in his evil feelings!.
Dexter also has a regular girlfriend and babysits her kids and so forth!.!.!.!.
Now, In my opinion, the ultimate demise of tv started when Robot Chicken was dreamt up :)

Absolutely not! I love Dexter, I think it's brilliant!. It's always so obvious who is the good guy, who our sympathies should be for, who the bad guy is, who we should dislike!. This show shatters all of our assumptions!. We have ties to, and sympathies for Dexter, our main character, and we like him!. But, look at it from the outside, he's a killer!. It's an insanely good idea!. However, I don't like it on CBS, I don't think it works!. Too many nuances, that are central to the show, and Dexter's character, have to be edited out!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I can only say that I might've seen P A R T S of commercials on or about it !!?! & just because even the commercials seem ut`ter-ly!.*!?#!.,!. I wo'nt say that !!!. It’s not about a show where they make a serial killer out to be the good guy!. It’s about a show where a guy, who was supposed to be a sociopath serial killer, ends up being some sort of vigilante serial killer!. Because of a childhood trauma, that guy has no feeling!. He cannot experience emotions, like love, guilt or remorse and has a need to kill!. Luckily for him, he was raised by a cop who adopted him and taught him to channel his urges!. So the guy only kills bad people, the ones getting away from the law or just before the law catch up with them!.
It is a good show, well written and well acted so it is not the “ultimate demise of television”!. You ask me…Dexter put the quality of TV up a notch!.
For the ultimate demise of television, I would look in stupid reality shows, soaps operas, shows like “Criminal Minds”, stupid and violent shows, which are badly written!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
