Little House on the Prairie question - when Pa sold the house to the Carters to !
Question: I am watching Little House right now and Pa sold the house to the Carters - Pa was supposed to be moving to get a better job in the city and work in a men's store. The male friends got together and bought him a sport coat so he would be well dressed for his new job. My question is - where is Ma? Did she die or is she waiting for him in the new city? Also, Laura gave up her teaching job on this episode (I am watching it now and it isn't over) - is she moving with Almanzo and Rose to the city too? I am lost!

Ma went ahead to get everything ready. Laura quit teaching to spend time with her child. She and Almonzo inherited a house from a family friend and turned it into a boarding house creating new story lines as Willy Olson, Mr Edwards and a few others moved in.
I think Ma is working at that restaurant in town and waiting for him, isn't she, while he took care of the house sale.
I don't know about Laura, Manzo, and Rose though.
I think Ma had already gone ahead to the city to put the new home in order and to get the younger children situated.
Laura and Almanzo stayed in Walnut grove until the end. In the final season they also became caretakers of his neice (played by Shannen Doherty) and ran a boarding home after the previous person passed away.
Ma was waiting in the city for Pa. Laura not teaching as she wants to stay home with Rose
