High School Musical 3: Senior Year is set for release later this year and fans were led to believe the movie would be the final episode in the hit franchise.
But now the company has revealed plans are well underway for another film, with a script already being penned.
Disney Channel Worldwide President Rich Ross confirmed the news to MTV.com, saying, "We are writing High School Musical 4.
"We have learned that just putting a number next to a title is a very old idea. We have to have a new story."
All the stars of the original TV movie, including Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale, signed up for the third picture.
But Ross fears Disney might not be able to persuade all of the original cast to reprise their roles for a fourth time.
He adds, "Are we going to have all the cast back? Probably not. Will we have some of them? I hope so."

yes, they are currently making a high school musical 4, meaning that high school musical 3 has all ready been made

bet there will be.. do u see the amount of money the first 2 have taken in,... i think that they will make 1 more and then that will be the end of it
Yes, but not for the Disney Channel. It is going to be for the big screen. It was supposed to start filming early this year but according to imdb, it is still in pre-production. The writer's strike may have pushed it back.

I heard on Regis and Kelly that they are already planning HSM 4. According to imdb, it is going to be for TV and there is no cast or anything yet.
HSM 4 may not have the original cast since it is projected to be made for TV and HSM 3 is going to be released in theaters.
Yep it will be released in theaters and there is a number 4 too that just started filming.
