Was anyone else shocked when Michael Johns was kicked off of American Idol?!

Yes, completely shocked !! He is one of the best this season -- I think the people getting their votes in are mostly young teeny boppers who are willing to keep calling over and over until they get through ( lines are busy a long time) whereas most adults have a life and give up after a few tries.
So the young female teens vote for the 'cute' guy or the 'blond pretty gal' or the younger ones close to their age, rather than the singers with the most talent. I have always had an issue with how the voting is done on Idol. I think they should count the call-ins as 50% , 25% from Randy ,Paula & Simon, and maybe 25% from the live audience. Maybe then you can be more assured of the most talented person getting the most votes rather than a popularity or 'cute looks' contest.

He's been picking lousy songs. Dream On is a good song - but not very inspirational. There are so many great inspirational songs. Last week he picked a bad song too. Same way with Carly Smithson. She's got the best vocals of all the contestants - but she's getting put in the bottom three because the songs she's chosing aren't very good. Look at Kristy...she's been in the bottom 3 every week; but the last two weeks she has picked great songs and she has stayed in the competition.

I was definitely shocked! I think everyone was! It was very unexpected. He was one of the best ones on there! Did you see the look on, not only the judges faces, the other people competing and the audiences reaction, when they announced, that he was going home? They could not believe it either! I really think we will be seeing him again. He has a great voice, so I don't think it's over for him yet! Even though he went home, I think he has a singing career ahead of him.

Michael Johns highest ranking is It's All Wrong, But It's All Right American Idol # 8 Kristy Lee Cook God Bless the U.S.A. highest ranking is #30.Michael Johns has three tracks in the top fifteen. I think this is more accurate way to judge the contestants. If you like somebody well enough to buy the song means more than picking up the phone & voting for the underdog a hundred times. I believe Michael song choice half the time didn’t help him either. I though he was GREAT on Its All Wrong But It’s Alright & We Are the Champions-We Will Rock You .
