Outspoken actress Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla Winters) may be headed back to The Young and the Restless alter this year. The CBS soap has reached out to the actress to see if she's interested in a possible return -- but a rival soap is also reported to be interested in signing Rowell. Rowell appeared on Y&R for 17 years.
Since leaving The Young and the Restless in April 2007, Rowell has traveled around the country on a promotional tour for a book. Those travels have also allowed her to meet with fans of Y&R and given her the opportunity to have a "meeting" with ABC's One Life to Live.
Though she is believed to have fallen to her death nearly a year ago, fans may not have seen the last of The Young and the Restless' Drucilla Winters. While the network refuses to comment publicly, soapcentral.com has learned that CBS is actively seeking a way to bring actress Victoria Rowell (Drucilla Winters) back into the fold. Rowell, who left the show in April 2007 amid reports of hurt feelings and frustration with the direction of the show, states that she is "open" to a possible Y&R return.
"Before Christmas, through my representative, there was a dialogue with the CBS brass regarding [the] re-entry of Drucilla Winters," Rowell reveals. "The ball is in The Young and the Restless court. I think it's important that the fans know that I'm open to coming back and now we're waiting for an answer. That's absolutely the case."
After leaving The Young and the Restless last year, Rowell gave a candid and uncensored interview with TV Guide Canada to clarify her reasons for wanting out of the number one rated daytime drama series. In the interview, Rowell lashed out at daytime executives for being "racist" and criticized Y&R's then-head writer Lynn Marie Latham for ruining the vision late-Y&R creator Bill Bell had created for the show.
Now with Latham's recent ouster from all creative aspects of the show, Rowell appears willing put her past differences with the show aside. But that doesn't mean that the actress is not still critical of issues that she feels need to be addressed.
God, I hope not, she was a nut case. If I had a wife like that, I'd have thrown her off a cliff.

It's funny you ask that. As I was watching it yesterday, I said to my daughter, "Watch Dru come back." I haven't heard anything. Didn't know there was a rumor. Just the way the storyline was going, it sounded like they were really playing her up. Karen moving in, Lily pregnant, her one year memorial service. Neil was saying to Karen that maybe he would take the kids to her memorial spot, maybe she'll be a ghost like John. I don't know.
i don't know if it is just a rumor or fact, but i saw on one of those soap opera magazines that someone was coming back....it showed dru, malcom, and sheila....who knows
I think eventually she will be back. Its just a matter of when.
I certainly beleive that it is a possibility.......
Though, personally I hope not......I hated the character of Dru...she was the type of woman that gave women a bad name. Never would she take responsibility for her actions and she was lucky enough to have good people (particularly a good man) in her corner. This also gave her a very high opinion of herself, that was completly unjust. Lily is already a "mini-dru"....her mother's influence is obviously there and she is more annoying for it. I would hate to have Dru back...Really don't want to deal with her attitude and Lilys increasingly bad attitude. Lily could be saved provided Dru stays dead!!!!!!!!

I think she will come back. Neil just had Karen move in and Lily is pregnant so now is the perfect time. Plus she could help out her BFF Sharon at Restless Style!
