I really don't like her pop side she could very easily be a very popular country singer, cause that song with her dad was hot. It was horrible on americal idol

She is what like 14? I think for her age she is fantastic. Her music is really appropriate for young girls and she is a good example. I personally happen to like some of her music. I like her music better as Hannah Montana than Miley but that is my personal preference. Overall, I think people need to lighten up and cut her some slack. She is very down to earth and stays out of trouble.
Also, so if her preformance wasn't amazing, maybe she did have a cold or maybe just an off night. No pun intended but Nobody's Perfect. And to many of the responses above she has chores at home, an allowance, and if any of you watched her on Jay Leno she totally acted like any other teenage girl. Cut her some slack and grow up.
By the way just so everyone knows I am 23 years old and not really a fan but I can comprehend that she really sets a great example for kids.

I, personally, like Miley Cyrus. She seems like a very nice, funny, down-to-earth, person. The only reason why people would bash her is because they're jealous.

I saw a quick glimpse of her tonight, and I agree w/ all you Miley-haters:SHE STUNK!!!...
Try and get her on a USO trip to Iraq, and even she will be playing her "role" to an empty soccer stadium!...because NO ONE will want to listen to HER!
My 8 year old likes Hannah Montana, so by default I hear a lot of her stuff. Some of it is actually pretty good. But her music is not intended for a more mature audience, so hating on Miley is similar to hating on Barney.
I found this by googling "idol give back miley lip sync" because i was convinced she was lip syncing. But later in the song i was sure it was live. Maybe the first part was too hard so she decided to sync, but the later part was easier so she switched to live. Whatever, I'll try not to get too excited, she's just a kid. And a pretty talented (and very lucky) kid at that.
