Australia will be getting new episodes of Lost on 1 May. Judging from the clips, it's gonna be awesome! Then again, it rarely isn't.

To answer your second question, Lost went on hiatus as a result of the WGA Strike. That halted production for all series in November and did not end until mid-February. Lost went back into production in February and will have episode 9 airing worldwide in less than a month! There will be 5 remaining episodes produced (ending with episode 13).
