Why did Sara leave the show CSI?!

Question: It got to be too much for her. from what I understood. She left a not for Grissom when she left that mentioned 'ghosts from her past' after the case in which she had to tell a teenager that her brother had commited suicide after she framed him for murder. I'm not sure if the plot line had anything to do with it, but she'd been having trouble since her near death experience and never really recovered.

I can't say i was sad to see her go.

The question should be...

Why didn't she leave sooner?

The character was written out because the actress wanted to pursue other projects.

The character left because she had become "visibly shaken at an especially unsettling crime scene, walking away as if she’d had enough. Her psychological unease and emotional exhaustion had been well established even before last season’s cliff-hanger..."

Basically, she's become haunted by ghosts from being in the profession and needed a break.

The actress and character may be back at some point for guest appearances, though.

As far as "Sara Sidle" is concerned, her decision to leave started a long time ago, when she and Gil were "outed" about their affair and also their past association as lovers, even back when they also had a student/teacher kind of relationship. The main catalyst was Sara's near-fatal encounter with the Miniature Killer, and things just went downhill from there. Her second case involving the spoiled, murderous little brat with the genius I.Q. was the last straw.

Now as for the actress who played Sara, Jorja Fox, it's no secret that she had never been happy with the underdevelopment of her character or her salary compared to the senior cast members (Bill Petersen, Marg Helgenberger, Paul Guilfoyle, etc.) Or has everyone forgotten when she had a temporary "sick-out" with George Eads during contract negotiations, and both of them were written out of a lot of episodes as punishment?

As it has already been said, Jorja/Sara's departure will give her more opportunities for other projects she wants to pursue (as long as she remembers what happened to David Caruso when he left NYPD BLUE), and she will return as Sara on a recurring basis. I say bring back Louise Lombard!

I think that will be revealed this week. The reason Jorga Fox left is because she thought it was time.
