It turned out to be Marlena. She and everyone thought she was the serial killer BUT it was just a plot by the DiMearas. They brainwashed her into thinking she had killed them but they just kidnapped everyone and sent them to an island.

It was all a hoax because everyone ends up coming back to life, and the 'killer' was Marlena.
It wasn't a "he", it was a "she". And it was Malana, although she didn't kill anyone. I can't remember, but I think it was staged to make it look like these characters were killed by Marlana. But I think the set up was all of Stefeno.
