On the show Survivor...how do they keep their bikini area..???!

Question: How do they keep their pubic hair from bushing all out the sides of their bikini if they don't have the luxaries of razors and things of the like? They are there for 39 days...I know their 'muffins' are growing out...how is it that they keep them so trimmed? Just curious....I am watching it now...don't see any armpit or muffin hair.

They use gophers to chew the hair off for them, and some pluck the hairs to use as floss. That's why you never see any muffins.

I think they must have a wardrobe or costume person there to help them with those issues.

That is a good question!!
They have to do something for those areas just like when its there monthly time!!

I often wondered the same thing...the guys get all scruffy, but the girls are still all 'hairless' on legs, pits and "other areas".
I would think that for the sake of ratings and keeping viewers, they MUST be allowed something to take care of that. Nobody would want to watch it if the girls were just as hairy as the guys! LOL

It's just one more way that so called reality television is scripted, edited and faked to the max.

People want to believe that they are seeing everything as it happens, so they watch, but the truth is reality television is as made up as everything else. Cast members are selected as much for their photography, controversy and audience appeal as ability to perform in the show.

I think they might be proved my that. Maybe Idk....

MSN talked to Jeff and here is what he had to say:

"On “Survivor,” are the women allowed to take personal hygiene items for “that time of the month”? — Melissa

Almost every “Survivor” show has started with the contestants learning that they have to go with whatever they are wearing. Why in the world do they wear such skimpy dresses? And this season they were all given bathing suits and tennis shoes? Why was that? — Debbie, Louisville, Ky.

The contestants do not have access to razors, nor do they shave during their time on the island. Any lack of growth you notice probably has to do with waxing or laser procedures, or the quality of the footage on your TV screen.

"Survivor" host Jeff Probst was actually thrilled to answer that very question when a reporter asked it during a conference call last week, as the host said even his mother asks him if the contestants get makeup before Tribal Council or other TV-friendly cosmetic procedures.

His answer was a definite no on all accounts. "There is absolutely nothing, nothing," he said. "They are given exactly what we say they have." He noted he wasn't sure why some contestants appear to look fresh and seem clean-shaven all the time. As to their hairiness, he said, "I think some of the people get a laser procedure that will go in a little deeper than a shave will go."

Probst added that the show's "women have more hair than you can see" because "they don't have tweezers, they don't shave. The guys don't get anything."

As always, the cast members do receive essential items such as tampons and condoms, and he said that birth control comes into play soon, as there are "love affairs this season, plural," including "some of the most intimate footage we've ever had."

Regarding their clothing, cast members’ clothes are essentially selected by producers to make sure their clothes work on TV (e.g., don't have logos or odd stripes) and meet their other needs. Last season, contestants received shoes before a challenge when they needed them, and got their own bathing suits in tree mail one day, perhaps because their underwear was getting too ratty and skimpy and making the censors work overtime.

Probst said producers "strip-search them before the show," and "control all of" what they bring with them in their bags. That's why contestants don't wear, as Probst said, "three pairs of underwear" or bring better clothes along. And producers make decisions about what else to offer contestants, like the swimsuits that appeared during "Survivor: China."

Many of the female contestants get lazered before the competition. some get Brazilian waxed. None are given razors. And as for why you do not see it, the cameras blur those areas whenever any thing is show and there are multiple cameras on each competition to make it possible not to show what you are asking about. But, we are only talking about 39 days. Until you get to the later weeks it is doubtful that you are going to see what you are looking for and only if the contestant has dark hair to begin with. This is like week eight which is like day 21. Wait for day 32. And also notice most of the girls are wearing dark bikini bottoms and shorts. that helps to cover some of it just like the t shirts help to cover some of it. But they will blur anything from being on television.
