Who Knows Why Drucilla And Phyllis Were Nemesis?!
Question: Even though i've been watching daytime CBS for years, sometimes I don't know where enemy lines came into nascence. The story goes back decades prior to my day, I however wonder how Drucilla Winters and Phyllis Summers (Newman) came to be adversaries?

I wish I could remember for sure but I think it started with them both wanting the same job at Newman. Phyllis didn't think Drucilla was qualified for it. They were both trying hard and cutting each other down.
I know they have hated each other for years so it might even got back further than that.
I know it's not about Lily and Daniel running off a few summers ago or about Sharon being treated bad by Phyllis, or the Carmen Mesta mess they hated each other way before that. Those things just kept the fueling the feud.
Because Dru and Sharon were pals. Dru would talk about Neil running around with Carmen Mesta (girl that later got murdered) and Sharon would talk about her then hubby Nick running around cheating on her with Phyllis. They would each dish the dirt on their spouses and scheme and dream of ways to get even. The difference is Dru did get even (by cutting up Carmen's dresses and attacking Carmen by pulling her hair) but Sharon didn't get even with Nick as far as I can recall. Dru loved calling Carmen and Phyllis names...like homewreckers, etc.
LONG STORY... the simple answer is: Sharon.
Dru didn't like what Phyllis was doing to Sharon.
There were alot of other layers as well.
It didn't help the above mentioned problems when their children married (Lilly and Daniel) and ran to California when Daniel was on trial for Cassie's murder before they realized it was her behind the wheel and not Daniel

I just want to add....
Though Sharon is a huge reason Phyllis and Dru disliked each other, I don't beleive thats where the hatred began. I think Sharon was merely the "fuel on the flame".
Another thing (no one has mentioned) that deepened their hatred was that Phyllis was the one to spill the beans on Lily's paternity to...none other....than LILY!
That was a secret Dru had kept for 17 years......

Ok, I will add my 2 cents in: I thought it was because of the hair care storyline back some years ago. Damon Porter was interested in Phyllis and both Jabot and Newman were doing the first African american hair care line...I thought that was part of it...
