Question: Are they gonna have to sing Dolly Parton songs this week since she is the mentor? That seems like a big disadvantage to everyone involved except for Kristy Lee Cook (who really should have been gone a long time ago).

Dolly Parton actually wrote a LOT of songs (almost 600!), including 25 #1 singles and 42 top-10 country albums!! They have a LOT to chose from and they don't necessarily have to sing it in a country style.
One example:

which Whitney Houston sung and made famous.
It was written by Dolly Parton and originally recorded by Dolly.
It should be an interesting night!
i'm not sure but i do know that david cook is the best one on the show this year and that he should still be able to be the best one tonight, regardless to what song he sings.
They don't always have the mentor sing, I think if I recall it's been only a rare occassion that they did... but you can go to the station that the show aired on, then go to the shows link from there & you should be able to find webisodes. updates, recaps, spoilers, chatrooms, message boards & forums & other links. Plus you can usually find commercials & other video's too.
I think it's always a disadvantage to have someone so well know and with such a distinctive voice on and have these kids try to perform those songs.
More often than not, when a specific person is a mentor, they do have to sing their songs, and yes, I see it as a disadvantage to everybody but Kristy, but there is some real talent this year, so hopefully they will kick some butt!
Seriously though, is there some kind of Kristy Lee Cook conspiracy? I have never been a fan and have no idea why she is still there. Hopefully, she messes up one of Dolly's country songs, like she did when she tried to turn a Beatles song - yes, Beatles song - into a country flop. What was she thinking?!?!?!
they can change a dolly country song into a newer or different arrangement then the one we know,,,,like David cook did with Micheal Jacksons Billy Jean last week....
I bet he will do one of her more popular songs and make it his own again! It is really not Kristys advantage tonite as she may not be able to sing as well as some of the others but if she sings a song the way the judges like it she will make it threw. If she imitates Dolly she will not make it, I don't think Simon would like it if she does a poor imitaition. They all need to find their own style and then stick with it, make the
weeks theme work for them. Some can do that some can't.
Micheal johns and David Cook seem more able to do that.
I see everyone except for Two , Kristy Lee Cook this would be in her League and David Cook he'll do any song regardless of what Genre its in He'll do they way he does His Music, Overall Its worth watching.

Dolly Parton songs are theme for tonights show with Dolly being the mentor. The show is country tonight. I dont know which Dolly Parton song the contestants are going to sing tonight. I agree with you that its a big disadvantage to everyone except Kristy Lee Cook cause she has a country singers voice. The contestants doesnt usually do well with country songs. Simon Cowell doesnt like country music
i agree. i think the real talent is with the guys. david cook, david archuletta. kristy should have gone a long time ago and amanda overmyer should have stayed on. ellen picked her up though and had her on . im sorry but dolly parton. this is why i have never really gotten into the whole american idol scene. i am not a fan of country or slow music. the beatles were cool because there old school but dolly parton. can we seriously not put the viewers to sleep please. why cant they sing songs that are a bit more our time. i dont mean to be disrespectful but i find that music quite dull and boring or like simon would say murder with a little bit of torture.
IDK, but why should Kristy be gone before Ramielle? At least Kristy can keep in tune. Ramielle is not all that. Dont matter I guess, David Cook is the best on there as far as I'm seeing. Yea, for the rocker!
Your so right about Kristy...and I was under the impression that they were singing Dolly Parton songs too...which I thought sounded like a bad idea, but from what I hear, they will have lots of songs to choose from, which is great! I think David Cook could turn any song into his own unique version and I can't wait to watch and see how it goes!!
I hope not...I've already been cringing at the thought of this week when I saw she was going to be on...not a big fan of the country music...
