Question: showed Mr. Adams as being deathly ill, I believe in the Netherlands, prior to the end of the Revolutionary War. Did this really happen and does anyone know what illness he had?

Hello,I am very pleased to see that you are watching this fascinating mini series,John Adams.Remember that John Adams died when he was 90 years old. He had recurring illnesses throughout his lifetime. As he was in a 5-day coma in 1781, it is thought that perhaps John Quincy had something wrong with his thyroid but then again he was susceptible to cold which may have meant that his immune system shut down due to stress and anxiety or he may have had allergies altogether. I am including a medical history of John Adams which may be of more interest to you. If there is one fault of the program it is that the producers have hastened the events.
