TV Show "House" question?!

Question: During the show Dr. House performs endless medical tests, MRIs, CAT scans, and surgeries on his patients. But it's never explained how his patients pay for these treatments especially when some are low income families. Hospitals are a business and the treatments the patients receive must cost thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars.
How do the writers explain this?

How do the writers explain this?

House works for Princeton Medical Center, the hospital for Princeton Medical School. As such, they have a "free" medical clinic (where House pays his "penance" to Cuddy) and virtually unlimited research funds.

However, you may remember that House was nearly fired by Chi McBride's character for ordering expensive tests. Also Cuddy rememinds him of the costs of these tests, too.

They don't explain it, and neither does my hospital administrator. Every day, in every hospital in the US, every doctor goes to work with the attitude of "if you don't like it, fire me or take me off staff." It's yet another of those factors that make our job satisfaction so high.

Obviously the basis for the show is the medicine, not the payments...otherwise it might be called..."Mortgage House"...

who cares =D its a geat show
