Yes. I voted for April coming to be the reason Gilmore Girls jumped the shark over at jumptheshark.com. I know that Amy S-P didn't think that Luke and Lorelai happy together made good drama, but I hated this "twist" that she stuck in there.
I thought that the addition of April made both Luke and Lorelai act out of character. Lorelai became passive and tentative and Luke became callous and self-centered. Those characters in season six were not the characters that I had grown to love.
I actually found season six to be more painful to watch than season seven. I think the new producer actually managed to fix the mess that ASP had left him by about mid-way through the season, and the rest of the season was decent.
I'm actually very upset at ASP, the way she treated the characters in the sixth season and her attitude. (It was basically like a child saying "I'll take my toys and go home". If she couldn't get a two year deal, then she was going to screw up the show enough that the next person would have a heck of a time fixing it.)
It's why I am not so excited about the idea that ASP might be doing a Gilmore Girls movie at some point in the future. I really think that she lost her rights to the characters and their fates when she screwed them up so badly in the sixth season.
I still love the show overall, though. And I own all of the seasons on DVD. Even the sixth. (Which I probably will never watch again, but I do own it.)
I think it did but if they didnt it would have started to get boring it put a twist into the show. if april is the reason why the show ended i am so pissed
