Answers: Anyone know when they will begin airing the rest of the season 7 episodes of Scrubs?

Copied from my earlier post:

This is a pretty loaded question considering the complicated nature of status of Scrubs' {possible} final season. NBC will begin airing the remaining produced episodes of Scrubs on April 10th, however it is unknown whether the Scrubs finale will get to air.

To preface the situation: We all know that in November the WGA went on strike, halting production for all scripted television shows. The strike ended in February, which put into question the status of all scripted television shows. Some have gone back into production, some are optioned to return at the premier of the 2008-09 TV season (schedule pending announcement come the May Upfronts), and some have been cancelled. The rest of the shows, like Scrubs are on the bubble. Only, Scrubs' bubble is awkward and controversial.

The word circulating the industry was that NBC was not interested in producing the full 18 episode season the network had initially ordered for the show's series finale. They gave Bill Lawrence (Scrubs creator) a couple options which he deemed undesirable. One option was to produce the rest of the episodes and release them straight to DVD, another was to allow one final episode to be produced and aired to close out the series.

Bill Lawrence was unhappy with the options that were given to him, obviously (who wouldn't!). In comes Steve McPherson, the (awesome, for many reasons including the one in this story) President of ABC Primetime Entertainment. Bill Lawrence and Steve McPherson have been friends for a long time, and McPherson has always been open about his interest in Scrubs. Lawrence and McPherson, under whatever circumstance, exchanged their concerns about the show not being able to fulfill their final season. Amidst those exchanges, the possibility of Scrubs finishing out an eighth and final season was thrown up (this possibility was also posed last summer for an ABC aired 7th season when NBC considered cancelling the series).

Word about a possible eighth season circulated and eventually was caught by NBC. NBC called foul, throwing on the table their contractual agreement with ABC Studios (Scrubs' production company) about first negotiation and first refusal rights. This put the ABC deal on the back burner.

As recently as a couple days ago, Kristen Dos Santos and Korbi Ghosh of E! Online's Watch With Kristen blog broke news that several (anonymous) insiders working with the show have confirmed that Scrubs will be making the switch to ABC to complete an 18 episode final season! The news has not yet been made official, but the waters seem as if ABC, ABC Studios and NBC are close to an agreement!

April 10.
