The hills is scripted... Lauren Conrad even states that some of the arguments and run-ins are planned..

I can't find the pages that I've read, but there are a lot that talk about seeing Heidi and Spencer out, and they had to go over an argument many times so they could get all the angles. I think a lot of its scripted, but mostly Spencer and Heidi. They seem like they would be too boring if they didn't get some encouragement from somewhere.
and you believe anything spencer has to say!!!! come on now, who cares if it is scripted, of course it is, but its still on the air and peole must watch it for some reason or another, and i, personally dont think it has anything to do with spencer or heidi, they should pull them from the show
i don't think it's scripted, because people would say more interesting things. But I don't think it's "real" either. People are going to act differently wihen they know they're on camera. And I'm sure the people behind the cameras influence things too. But its entertainment. These people have lives that are not real to me anyway. Living in LA, having no $$ worries, their problems are so petty to me. it's just fun to watch.
