Everyone made some good points about this. Since the onset of reality television we are seeing so many stars from the past. It's kind of sad in a way, but it also gives us a chance to see who these people really are. I mean, I doubt if Joanie from Happy Days would have imagined herself ever being on a celebrity weight loss show when she was in her 40's. But, everyone needs to earn money and I guess actors will do what they can to make a buck.
I had never seen the Surreal Life until it was in reruns. Some of these shows are just unbelievable. But, they obviously entertain enough people to keep making them.
For me it took the glamour out of what we used to believe it was like to be a celebrity. It's interesting to see that these people have just as many issues as the average person.

It keeps their face in the public eye, ensures they still get paid, and is used to try and revive their careers.
The best answer to this is.....they are so old and forgotten about that they are running out of there millions and now they need to make a buck to live.
Who cares why they are getting them, they are funny as heck! It's amazing what some people will do even thought they know they are on camera!
To reach the older demographics...The 35-55 year olds. (I fall into that category.) I've seen the show, but all those shows suck. Loved Scott Baio, hate his show.

Seriously though, the major stars don't need the job or the money like the B,C, and D-listers do. They're certainly NOT going to come down in either price or prestige to appear on something so stupid. But hey, everybody has to work, right?
i think all the has been stars get these shows because we as a nation have no tatse anymore . . . .people don't know when to stay dead, so to speak. we're gluttons for this crap.
Because its a paycheck for them and because theyre not as popular as they use to be,you dont have to pay them alot of money and the B listers feel they are getting a second chance at fame.
