I think whoever it was...Ben put them up to it.
I mean think about it. He made danielle and carl and alex go on a specific path, and who didn;t get shot? "Daddy's" little girl. His mindset is that she is his, just like with Juliet. So he kills off her boyfriend and real mom.
They didn't reveal in the episode who it was but my opinin I think it was some of the people from the boat reaching the island.
hmmm. we don't know yet, unless you want a spoiler. but like the producer said, spoilers really undermine the shock value of the deaths that occur and the moment of impact the show delivers. anyway my guess is ben's people did it. ben's people are protected in the sanctuary hatch or tower but someone has to stand gaurd over that area, so perhaps ben told the guards in advance to kill danielle and karl because they were both traders and danielle would take his daughter away from him eventually so now he has full control over his daughter (who by the way isn't really his daughter, he kidnapped her when she was a baby.). thats my thought anyway.
