Some people are just dead clever. I remember in high school they showed us a movie about girl who asked her history teacher how someone like Hitler could get in power if the people didn't really want to go along with his ways. So he designed a web of manipulation that had the kids falling into the same trap as the Germans fell into with Hitler. And strange though it may seem, you could see how through a series of thoughtful little nudges he soon controlled the minds of a whole school. A good con knows how to talk, and BS. Think about sales people, what makes a good salesperson so much better than a bad one? It's usually a few tricks such as height, appearance, facial features, and how sincere that person can seem. If you lack confidence, you will fail. These people really believe in what they're doing.
It shouldn't be allowed to conceal his identity, he should be exposed. However, being a good con artist, he would find a way around it again.
