i think you are so right he was an awsome actor on the show,,, but i think they show him more now that he is dead then they did when he was still alive..but he did do a great job on the show
I thought it was, especially since he never left the show (he's been haunting Jack since his death)
and now the actor is playing Allistair so he never even got fired off the show.
John really didn't have much to do anymore.

well look at it like this maybe the actor wanted more time off . He is getting up there in age!!!! This way he is not working all the time!!!
He is an older actor and his role was minimal and he wanted to spend more time at home.
I think Y & R's biggest mistake was letting Heather Tom go but I agree with the other posters that since he is up in age, he doesn't want to have that much screen time, that's why he is just Jack's conscience and this Allistair character. We see this happening to Ms. Chancellor, first she retires now she is having these "episodes", she needs more rest time.
he was sweet but boring! and I can say that as a very long time viewer, over 2 decades now, gee I remember when Niki was a stripper and Victor had his wifes lover locked up in his basement.
John is more interesting as a ghost, and I love seeing Jack squirm.
The actor who plays him wanted to leave because he wanted to make a go at a singing career. It obviously didn't go so well, so now he's back. I loved John Abbott, but was kinda disappointed when they brought him back as a ghost. But this storyline with him haunting Gloria is a riot!!
I agree. They have killed alot of people on Y&r,that should be there.

The death of John has created so much additional story and drama that was sorely missing before.
Everyone effected by his death has had great scenes that have been amazing to watch.
Plus now we get to watch John's great acting as he creates this new character for us to enjoy! As much as I loved John, I really like his ghost and can't wait to see this drunken Scot, he is bringing to the screen!
I don't know that it was a mistake. It made Jack open his eyes up a little more to his antics, and hopefully it will do the same for Gloworm. I LOVED it when she saw his "ghost" yesterday. Typically Y&R brings people back from the dead too often - I am liking this approach.
No one killed John,it was his heart.But yes i think it was crazy to do that.WRITERS,go figure.Don't forget his daughter Tracy.He was on there SOOOOO many years,and he was good.

Yes, but I also think that their first mistake was having Gloria poison those people. She and John could have been so could together and it would have been better to watch her and Jack fight without having to know that she has done this awful thing and this is one of the reason's that John and Will died. But maybe John and Will are not really died and Jeffery is Will and Allistair is John and they are going to bring Gloria down that way.
