Is David Cook getting too smug for his own good?!

Question: Was Simon right in saying he looked smug in his performance? I just want opinions here, I didn't say I didn't like him.

I find him confident. He's not smug. He's gotta have his rockstar persona because that's what he is. He's selling his songs. Look how humble he was when Simon told him he could actually win.

i didnt really notice it. i'm not a HUGE fan of him but i think he has potential to become the next chris daughtry.

my opinion: He is a little smug. He even said that during Hollywood week he was glad that only Randy and Paula liked him because if Simon liked him as well he would have been WAY over confident.

I think he is a little smug, but I think he has a right to be. He's good, and I think he knows it.

Yes, agreed.

I agree 100%

A little bit, but rightfully so. He rocks and he knows it. I'm afraid that might hurt him in the competition, though, because look at Josiah, Danny and Amanda. Apparently, self-confident people who know who they are and refuse to change for a TV show are T.M.T.H for Idol. Still, as much as I love David C and look forward to seeing him on the show every week, I'd actually rather see him get booted for staying true to himself than to have to kiss the judges' butts to stay on. He's better than Idol, anyway. And if he doesn't already know that, he should.

He's probably a lot more smug than an AI contestant SHOULD be. I mean, he should keep in mind that with the exception of Kelly and Carrie, the 'losers' from past seasons have done MUCH better than the winners. Chris Daughtry didn't win, Kellie Pickler didn't win and neither did Elliot Yamin or, most famously, Jennifer Hudson. Past winners Fantasia, Ruben Studdard and Taylor Hicks have all seen their CD sales tank, and some of them have even been cut loose by their record companies.

well, i don't think he's TOO self-confident.
i mean, they have to be--at least a little--to win or get far. right?
because, if they came up there and didn't try and were like "i'm no good..." all of that, people probably wouldn't vote for that person. u know.
=)

I don't think so. Some days Simon gets a little grumpy i think and that was one of the days. I think David Cook is probably gonna end up in the top 2, that is if Christy Lee Cook ever finally gets voted off!

No, being smug is what he has to be.

That is what gets it done.

Yeah, he's smug, but it's okay. I don't think it's overbearing. He's really good. I know if I was on there and I could sing like him, I would be a bit smug, too. He knows he's good and apparently, he's not afraid to admit it.

I think he always looks that way. He does remind me of Chris Daughtry. (I like them both by the way.) They're good and they know it.

i don't think he was acting very smug. i think he is a pretty good singer, and simon even said he thought he could win. i think david cook was having a lot of fun and sometimes simon takes nice attitudes the wrong way!! ;)
