How do the judges of American Idol listen to thousands of auditions in a couple !

Question: simon, randy and paula don't really listen to every single auditioner. people audition through the producers in the stadiums first and the producers will pick the ones that are "really good" and the ones they think will entertain people on tv and it narrows down to a couple hundred and those people will audition for simon, randy and paula for approval.

It took weeks. Maybe even a couple months. This is not a weekend gig. They listened to audition tapes, listened for weeks and narrowed it down to what you see on TV.

I've asked myself that same question

I know someone that tried out. She waited on line for hours and hours. Apparently there are several levels that you go through, starting with low level talented scouts, moving up to some producers, and then finally the 3 judges you see on T.V.

This person I knew was super talented and she got through 3 of the 5 stages before Simon, and she said that they purposely put through the less talented people and people like her lose out.

Think of how many talented people must have got the shaft.

lambdawlr, and ely, answers are correct, they said this on the t.v guide network show called " 25 things you never knew about american Idol" they start months ahead and they have many different levels and producers who screen people. and they do purposely let bad singer in because it's " good t.v" they said its what people want to see. so people who can't sing get through.
