in my opinion oasis are a great band for instance , but if Liam gallagher applied for these type of shows he woouldn't make it to the top 500
a band or singer is a combo of wit , entertainment savvy , voice , looks . luck , and usually a shithot bunch of musicians backing you up
I mean there are a ton of singers out there who I love listening too that would never make that show

No, you're not missing anything. There's no point to that show. If you've got real talent you should be able to make it on your own and not need to be doing karayoke in front of some judges who don't have a clue what they're talking about.
I'm not sure what this craze is about cause i'm not all that into in either.

i totally relate to you. people like A. Idol Besides all the people humiliating themselves on national television...is way beyond me.
Being a vocalist myself, I like that the people on American Idol can actually SING. And if they can't, they get kicked off! Personally I don't vote, but my cousin (age 13) does every week I think people like to be involved in it.
You are right, it doesn't make sense. Personally I like America's Got Talent better it has variety.
lol i just like the first few shows where all the losers audition and think they are actually good at singing, and then Simon sits there laughing in disappointment lol
i have no idea. i actually tried to watch a whole show and couldn't get past 10 minutes of it. I really have no idea what the big deal is. but hey... to each his own.
I just dont get it either..i watch the auditions because they crack me up..other then that..you arent missing anything at least i dont think so..
haha you're absolutely right about what you said in your previous question. : D it is a karaoke contest in a sense but at a larger scale.
but the reason why people watch american idol is because (1) they are able to see ordinary people with extraordinary voices, (2) they like to see a group of new faces in the media with talent or at least a nice face if ya know what i mean, (3) they are able to engage into a "fresh" conversation with friends who like AI (am idol) about AI, (4), watching it is a way for some as a simple pastime, and SO FORTH
~then again, the show is only on because a small handfull of people make their munayyyy on the millions of viewers~
