Y&R why is Daniel so upset with Danny?!
Question: I've only bee watching again these past 2 years. The last time before that was when Daniel was still a baby so I never saw any falling out with him and his dad (which I've learned that the truth finally came out about him not really being Daniels dad) Is that part of the tension?

A long time ago, Danny was married to Cricket...they were having a rough patch in their marriage and Danny hooked up with Phyllis (one night stand). But low and behold, she tells him that the baby is his and that pissed Cricket off and they divorced. But Phyllis only told him that just to get him to be with her. Eventually, it came out that Phyllis lied about Daniel's paternity...since the judge granted Danny full custody, he decided to raise Daniel as his own....but Danny never told Daniel about his roots.
So, Yes....Daniel is upset because Danny never told him that he wasn't his biological father. Daniel feels that Danny kept him away from his mother....but we all knew through her kniving and tricks that she was not a good mother. The judge granted Danny full custody because of Phyllis decieving him.
That is part of the situation. The other part is that Danny never spent anytime with his son. And - his father put him in boarding school while Danny was touring during the time they were in Europe. Another reason is that Christine and Danny kept daniel and Phyllis apart. And danial resented his mom up until a few years back when the whole truth came out that Danny was not Danial's biological father. But - it made no difference to Danny. Danial was his son in every way that mattered. Including in the eyes of the law. But - Phyllis was the one who called Danny to launch the magazine that her and nick had created. She also called Danny so - him and his father would be able to patch up their relationship.

Danny took Daniel away from Phyllis when he was a baby. Because of this while he was growing up, Daniel never looked at Phyllis with a high opinion.
When he was older he got to know Phyllis. He now knows how much his mother loves him and how supportive she is of him. He's angry at Danny because he feels as if he was mislead as a child when it came to his mother..and that cost him a childhood with a mother.
I'm so glad you asked this question, because I have wondered the same thing. Daniel was being so disrespectful today and especially if it is over boarding school and Phyllis. Daniel has to know by now that Phyllis was not fit to raise a child back then. There has to be more to the story....
Daniel never forgave Danny for not telling him that he was not his biological father. I don't get it he should be upset with Philis she started the lie.
that's part of it and also he's always touring and such and Daniel was away in boarding school so he never really got to know either of his parents until he was basically a legal adult.
When Danny left Genoa City with Daniel, he convinced Phyllis that it was in Daniel's best interest for her not to have any contact with either of them. I never really thought this was in Danny's character to do that (sending him off to boarding school, keeping him from his mother, etc.). I always thought it was weird.
