Were the Dukes into incest?!

Question: I loved the show " The Dukes of Hazzard" as a kid.
But was Dasiy quote from the show suggesting that they were into incest?
"Bo Duke: Daisy Duke, if you wasn't my cousin, I'd marry you!
Daisy Duke: Never stopped anybody in this family before."
AND
What did Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane mean when he said "I'm gonna cuff ya an' stuff ya!"
What was he going to stuff them with?
I really think that show was perverted now.

It's a popular misconception that all southerners have "relations" with their cousins/siblings/livestock or your choosing, etc. While this is no more true today for us hicks than it is for you Yankees, back in the old day's it was not an uncommon occurrence(to marry your cousin, that is *insert embarrassed cough here*). The reasons for doing so varied. You married a cousin to keep the land/money in the family. If you've ever read or seen Gone with the Wind, you might remember Scarlet being told not to pine for Ashley Wilkes because his family was known for doing this. There are also examples of cousin matrimony happening in other countries such as Great Britain. Elizabeth Bennet of Pride and Prejudice was scolded by her mother for not accepting a marriage proposal from her cousin to keep her family from losing their estate due to "entail" once her father dies. In the case of small town communities you did so because there were no other options, everyone in town being related one way or another, however distantly. I'm sure it still happens, but there is more of a stigma then there was before. For some reason, southerners get the most flack for this.
As for Sheriff Rosco's utterance, I think what he meant by "stuff ya" was that he was going to stuff them there Duke brother's in the next available jail cell. Or not. I always did wonder about Rosco and his overly friendly relationship with Flash (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).

Yee haw- Coy and Vance were hot

Put it this way. If she were my cousin............
Well i would have to think it over.
