On LOST why did that guy say...?!

(On the freighter. Ray leads Sayid and Desmond to their new room)
RAY: So what do you think of the captain?
SAYID: He was surprisingly forthcoming.
RAY: Yeah, he tells it like it is. Just don't piss him off. You know what I mean? I think you'll like your room. It's on a quiet part of the ship.
DESMOND: But this... ship isn't moving.
RAY: Well, if you say so.

ok so what the heck is that supposed to mean?
The only way that there would be parts of the ship that weren't quiet would be if the ship were running, thus causing engine noise. As the ship wasn't (supposedly) moving, all of the rooms on the ship were quiet, no matter where they were located. However, the ship is probably moving in some way based on the time/space fluctuations that we've seen so far. For example, they don't seem to be able to get away from where they are, so something must keep pulling them back. the freighter people seem to be pretty knowledgeable about the forces at work, so I'm sure that Ray knows something that we (and the Losties) don't know. I'm sure we'll find out more about the fate of the freighter as the episodes air.
it means the ship isn't moving.

i think its just the many mysteries of Lost (as if they weren't enough LoL) i'm sure they'll fill us in when we forget that it happened like when they brought back walt's dad. most of us forgot about him yet, they are just bringing him back......sad to say, i'm still totally addicted to this show
I think that there is a lot more going on in the ship that we haven't figured out yet. And with Michael coming back into the mix, who knows. The captain seems very weird, like he didn't even flinch when that chick jumped off deck.
